12/27/2022 0 Comments Completed shining blade bouty notice![]() The intent of these releases was to create a bridge between the original campaigns and the sequel. Additional story elements were introduced in the free Guild Wars Beyond update patches, including the War in Kryta and Winds of Change. ![]() ![]() The two additional campaigns, Factions and Nightfall, each feature two additional professions unique to their continents (which are East Asian (mainly) and North African/Middle Eastern themed, respectively). The original campaign, subtitled Prophecies after the second campaign launched, contains 6 player classes (termed "professions", Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Elementalist, Mesmer, Necromancer) and each character chooses a permanent primary profession and a changeable secondary (the order matters). A fourth release acts as an expansion that can link to any of the main campaigns and is notable for providing primarily end-game content. The three can be linked, allowing one character to play all three stories. The game, instead of one core game and several expansions, features three stand-alone "campaigns" which have independent, if interlinked, plots and differing mechanics. Indeed, Guild Wars was largely an experiment to see if this business model could even succeed in the first place, which it undeniably has. Anet has said (to paraphrase) that it's not aiming to be a World of Warcraft killer, but that it's happy being its own niche. Part of the reason is due to instancing, and part due to design. It has been both lauded and criticized for its notable and unique business plan, which is quite simple: It's an MMO that requires no monthly fee. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.Guild Wars is a video game produced by ArenaNet, a splinter group formed off of Blizzard Entertainment, and published by the Korean MMO giant NC Soft. (See more pictures of the book on my blog. It's a nicely packed artbook with lots of wonderful artworks. They talk about the Shining series and of course this two games in particular. The last few pages features interviews with Tony Taka, producer Tsuyoshi Sawada, director for SEGA Takeshi Ozawa, assistant producer at SEGA Kei Mikami. The environment art are beautiful and I like them. Generally speaking, these are the artworks with more details compared to the characters so it would have been better to have them printed larger, but they are not. The artworks for locations, environment, enemies and ships aren't printed as big as those for the characters. The first few pages of the book feature full page splash images. The artworks are drawn by pin-up artist and character designer Tony Taka.įans of the game would probably be delighted by the beautiful illustrations. When you flip the book to latter pages, there are line sketches for the same characters. Each main character is given a full page treatment with a few different poses and many different expressions. The book's a 224-page paperback that features the character designs and profiles followed by environment art, weapons, ships and enemies. I will not be surprised if there are more Shining artbooks lined up. So far, I've reviewed the artbooks for Shining Hearts, Shining Force Feather and Shining Force EXA. Presentation is not different from other Japanese video game artbooks. Here's another video game companion book translated by Udon Entertainment, this time for fans of Shining Blade (2012) and Shining Ark (2013). ![]()
